Course Overview

Aeronautical Engineering is, according to the popular quote, “Mechanical engineering done better”, as engineering design and analysis need to be more precise and use advanced materials. Manufacturing is always through the most advanced technologies that invariably focus on closer tolerance levels. With the explosive growth in civil aviation, satellite communications and space exploration, the demand for aeronautical engineers has skyrocketed.

  • To train the students in a broad based manner with equal focus on applications in aircraft engineering.
  • To impart Engineering knowledge in topics such as structural mechanics, aerodynamics, propulsion and space dynamics.

Course Breakup

I Year

Students learn the basics of computers through papers like

  • Engineering Chemistry
  • Engineering Mechanics
II Year :

Focuses on enhancing their core knowledge through various subjects like

  • Aero Engineering Thermodynamics
  • Elements of Aeronautics
  • Aircraft Structures – I
  • Propulsion - I
III Year :

Students learn the application oriented papers like

  • Flight Dynamics
  • Control Engineering
  • Vibrations and Elements of Aeroelasticity
IV Year :

Students learn the emerging technology papers like

  • Avionics
  • Experimental Stress Analysis
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics
  • Wind Tunnel Techniques

At the tail end of the course the knowledge gained by them will be implemented in a substantial problem-solving project.

Career Opportunities

Air- India, Indian Airlines, Helicopter Corporation of India and flying clubs, Jet Airways Airline, Spice Jet airline, Indigo Airline, Air India Express, Air Asia Airline ,Paramount Airline and government owned air service and aircraft manufacturers like Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. (HAL), which has its factories at Bangalore, Nashik, Koraput, Kanpur etc, Defense Research and Development Laboratories, National Aeronautical Lab (NAL), Aeronautical Development establishment, civil aviation department etc. The Defense services, Indian Air Force (IAF), Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO), and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) also happen to be two major employers. Aeronautical graduates are also preferred by software industries engaged in engineering-software developments. In addition to these, graduates can enter general fields like management and civil services.
